The subsidy is intended for machines or installations that contribute to better water quality and healthy soil, energy savings or carbon sequestration, and increased biodiversity. The subsidy can also support more nature-inclusive cultivation, better animal welfare, and efficient use of natural resources such as water, soil, and air.

Encouraging young farmers

A total of €4 million is available. To further encourage young farmers (under 40 years) to apply, €2 million has been reserved separately. They are also entitled to a higher subsidy percentage (55%) than other farmers (40%). Farmers can receive up to €125,000 subsidy per project.

Individual farmers and cooperations

Eligible are individual farmers with an agricultural business in Groningen and cooperations of at least two farms. Applications must be submitted by March 13, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

Subsidy form: tender

Applications received are compared and ranked based on assessment criteria. This is called a tender method. Farmers with organic farming practices receive an extra point in the evaluation.

Common Agricultural Policy

The subsidy is part of the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027. This policy, financed by the European Union (EU) in cooperation with provinces, aims to modernize and make agriculture more sustainable while protecting food security. During the program, various subsidies will be available to create agriculture that connects economy, farmers, and the living environment.
