The following projects have received subsidies.
Sports Caregiver Training 2.0
There is a shortage of well-trained sports caregivers in the province, especially at local sports clubs, amateur teams, and sports facilities. Sports caregivers ensure a safe sports environment. They treat injuries, guide athletes in recovery, and focus on prevention.
To address this shortage, Huis voor de Sport Groningen, Medisch Centrum Zuid, and Het Omnium started a new sports caregiver training program in May 2025. Due to high demand, the course filled up quickly.
With a subsidy of 27,090 euros from the ‘Projects Groningen Provincial Movement Agreement’ scheme, the initiators can further develop the training. This allows more sports clubs in the province to benefit from well-trained sports caregivers. More information about the training is available via the website of Huis voor de Sport Groningen
More Top Athletes Motivating Youth
Young people like to take inspiring figures as examples, including top athletes, especially if those athletes come from their own region. They can play an important role in motivating youth to be more active.
Talenthub Noord and Topsport Noord want to raise awareness among top athletes about their role model function. Together with FC Groningen, Lycurgus, DONAR, Stichting BEA, 18yards, and municipalities, they are working on this.
With a subsidy of 23,238 euros from the ‘Projects Groningen Provincial Movement Agreement’ scheme ( PDF file, 3 MB), ten top athletes and talents are recruited and trained to inspire youth through movement clinics, presentations, and social media.
