More Children Can Participate
Thanks to this extra contribution, Stichting Leergeld can help even more children with, for example, a bike, laptop, or swimming lessons for diploma A. This is not always possible, as these costs are often higher than the available budget per child. In 2024, Stichting Leergeld supported nearly 18,000 Limburg children and expects to reach even more children in 2025 – just like in previous years.
The Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur is also fully utilizing the extra financial support to reach young people they have often had to miss until now. Following the success of the Choose a Club campaign in 2024, they will later this year go into neighborhoods and schools with, among other things, theater performances. This way, the fund wants to inform children (and their parents) about poverty and show what opportunities are available through the Jeugdfonds. There is also the ambition to organize additional sports and cultural activities around schools so that children can discover what they enjoy in their own familiar environment.
A Province Where Every Child Counts
Deputy Marc van Caldenberg (Social Agenda): ‘I am pleased that with this extra support we are taking a step in the right direction. With this approach, we are investing together with our partners in a Limburg where every child has the chance to participate and discover their talents!’
