(Commercial) farmers and nature associations, as well as beekeepers, wildlife management units, and private interested parties have the opportunity to lease these lands, provided they meet the conditions. Interested parties can submit their interest until December 23, 2025, 23:59 via our page about lease issuance on www.limburg.nl. In total, the province offers approximately 141 hectares of land for lease. This leased land is divided over 63 plots.

Financial and social returns

The issuance of lease lands contributes to two goals: financial and social returns. Financial returns by making agricultural land available to farmers so they can contribute to food supply. For social returns, attention is given to promoting regenerative, nature-inclusive, and organic farming.

Balanced methodology

Deputy Elianne Demollin-Schneiders (Land Policy). “As Province of Limburg, we invite everyone to register their interest in leasing the provincial (agricultural) lands. We have a balanced methodology that respects relevant case law while contributing to the tasks according to our provincial policy frameworks. Our intention is to keep the lease issuance broadly accessible. The status in the eco-scheme of the Common Agricultural Policy is important but not necessarily decisive in the selection process.”

In the third week of 2026, the Province will announce to whom the lands are allocated.
