The Limburg Centraal program focuses on urbanization and area development, providing space for over 30,000 homes by 2040 around the six intercity stations. Besides housing, Limburg Centraal also aims for a well-accessible and livable urban area. Therefore, the partners collaborate on the Limburg Centraal Urbanization Strategy. This strategy is a plan for the future of our cities and regions, outlining where new homes, facilities, and businesses will be established and how good accessibility, sustainability, and livability will be ensured.

This extensive and joint challenge requires all involved partners to contribute. That is why it is crucial to work together and coordinate investments. This initiative is an invitation to other partners to also contribute to the sustainable development of Limburg Centraal.

Michael Theuns, Deputy (Space, Housing, Water, Soil, and Livability): “As Province of Limburg, by releasing 50 million euros, we are taking an important next step. Especially with a new cabinet approaching, we show that Limburg is ready to engage and invest in the national urbanization challenge.”

In the coming period, it will be investigated which financial instruments are most effective to support the tasks within Limburg Centraal. Attention will also be given to strengthening organizational and execution capacity at municipalities, facilitating cooperation between parties, and other ways the Province can contribute to the success of this program. All these choices and possibilities will be elaborated in a spending framework, which will be presented to the Provincial Council for discussion before summer 2026.
