Connection Between Farmers and Citizens Increasingly Important
In Limburg, much happens in agriculture, horticulture, and nature, but much of it remains invisible to the general public. At the same time, the agricultural sector faces major changes. Farmers are dealing with the transition to more sustainable production methods, attention to nature, and changing regulations and market conditions. On the other hand, citizens demand for transparency about the origin of food and the impact of agriculture on the environment and society is growing. Deputy Jasper Kuntzelaers (Agriculture): Mutual understanding is essential to work together towards a sustainable future.
Incentive Scheme for Initiatives
The new incentive scheme supports initiatives that bring farmers and citizens closer together. These activities provide insight into the daily work of farmers, craftsmanship in the sector, and the steps companies take in the transition to more sustainable production. Think of open days, educational programs, workshops, and other forms of knowledge exchange. Kuntzelaers: By increasing mutual insights, the Province aims to contribute to more understanding, trust, and support for the shared challenges faced by both farmers and citizens/consumers.
Submitting Applications
Applications can be submitted by legal entities, sole proprietorships, partnerships, or companies. It is important that each initiative includes at least one active agricultural enterprise.
