Four ambitions

The regional agreement has four ambitions: a socially safe sports climate, accessibility of sports offerings for everyone, the future sustainability of swimming pools, and the development of top sports talent. In this way, government, social and sports partners join forces to make sports and exercise more accessible, attractive, and sustainable for all Limburg residents.

Deputy Marc van Caldenberg (Sports): ‘Sports and exercise are indispensable for a healthier future. Municipalities, associations, schools, welfare organizations, and athletes are now working together with this agreement. This is good for our collective health and for social cohesion in the North Limburg cities, neighborhoods, and villages.

Follow-up

A yet to be appointed coordinator and external partners will support further elaboration and implementation. Concrete projects and customized approaches per municipality should ensure that everyone, young and old, with or without disabilities, can exercise and play sports in a safe environment.
