Henk van Mierlo, Marjolijn Sengers, and John Meulenbroeks receive the Brabant Awards 2025. The award from the Cultural Fund North Brabant, which has been awarded since 2008, is given annually to individuals who volunteer in extraordinary ways for culture and nature in the province.
Henk van Mierlo (Valkenswaard)
Henk receives the Brabant Award for his great dedication to scientifically documenting the history of Valkenswaard and North Brabant. Additionally, he provides inspiring support to the municipality and organizations in the province regarding cultural history.
Marjolijn Sengers (Eindhoven)
Marjolijn is honored for her years of commitment as founder, coordinator, programmer, and artistic director of Podium Klassiek Eindhoven. Thanks to her passionate work, classical chamber music has gained a permanent place in Eindhovens cultural life and she continually excites a diverse audience.
John Meulenbroeks (Hooge Mierde)
John receives the Brabant Award for his tireless efforts to preserve knowledge about World War II and the Indonesian War of Independence. By carefully documenting stories and materials, he ensures that this history remains alive and is passed on to future generations.
Award Ceremony
The Brabant Awards 2025 will be presented on Monday, November 10, by Ina Adema, Commissioner of the King and Chair of the Cultural Fund North Brabant. The festive gathering will take place at Podium Azijnfabriek in s-Hertogenbosch.
Brabant Award
The Brabant Award is a tribute to individuals who sustainably and exceptionally contribute as volunteers to culture and nature in North Brabant. Each year, a maximum of three individuals are honored. Anyone can nominate candidates for the Brabant Award throughout the year via www.cultuurfonds.nl/brabant-bokaal/formulier.
Brabant Guardians
The laureates are united in the Brabant Guardians Foundation. This foundation initiates an annual cultural project with impact for all of Brabant.
About the Cultural Fund
The Cultural Fund invests 50 million euros annually in culture and nature. This money is used for more than 4,000 projects in the Netherlands, the Caribbean part of the Kingdom, and Suriname. With support from the VriendenLoterij, Nederlandse Loterij, donors, and partners, the fund enables a variety of initiatives. Foundations, associations, cultural institutions, nature organizations, and individual artists can apply for financial support. The Cultural Fund North Brabant is one of the twelve provincial departments.
