The Province of North Brabant is the host province for the European Goalball Championship in March 2027. The tournament will take place at Sportcentrum De Rusheuvel in Oss, where 8 national teams from Europe compete for the European title in this Paralympic sport. TeamNL is among the favorites.

In Brabant, we believe it is important that everyone can participate, says Deputy Bas Maes (Culture, Heritage, Sport & Leisure). The European Goalball Championship shows how sport connects people, regardless of disability, origin, or background. That is why we gladly support this event, together with the municipality of Oss and other involved parties.

Inspiration and Inclusion

With the European Championship, the province wants to inspire residents and show that everyone can participate and enjoy sports. The tournament also draws attention to initiatives such as Uniek Sporten, which encourages people with disabilities or chronic illnesses to be (more) active.

Goalball is a team sport for people with visual impairments. Players orient themselves by hearing and try to score by throwing a bell ball into the opponents goal. Matches require concentration, physical effort, and tactical insight.

Oss as Host City

For Oss, the European Championship fits into a successful tradition of parasport events. Previously, for example, the ‘Wheelchair Tennis Masters’ were held in Oss.

The organization is in the hands of Team TOC from Oss, a sports event agency experienced in parasports. The province collaborates with Gehandicaptensport Nederland, the municipality of Oss, BrabantSport, and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS).
