On Thursday, October 30, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the fifth Energy Brabant session will take place. This webinar is entirely focused on the sustainability of the industry. We will address questions such as: how is sustainability progressing in Brabant? What challenges are companies facing? How can we accelerate the pace? And what role do the province and municipalities play in this?

Major Sustainability Challenge

The industry is one of the largest energy consumers in North Brabant. To achieve climate goals, there is a significant challenge here. Many companies are already working on sustainability but encounter obstacles such as grid congestion, infrastructure expansions, and the lack of hydrogen.

The province supports companies in various ways in energy savings and sustainability. One of the ways this is done is through industry clusters that work with the Cluster Energy Strategy (CES) on the implementation of the Climate Agreement. Additionally, the province is the initiator of the Brabant Energy Leaders (BEL group): a platform where energy-intensive companies exchange knowledge and good practices. During the session, Bas de Vrind (Cluster 6) and Hans Bolscher (BEL group) will share their experiences and vision. They will also provide municipalities with tips on how to accelerate sustainability together with companies.

Approach Large Harvest

The approach Large Harvest will also be discussed. This aims to accelerate the sustainability of business parks. An important step for a future-proof economy and a healthy business climate. Dion Sluijsmans (Province of North Brabant) will explain how this approach works in practice. Then Piet Ackermans (Municipality of Oosterhout) will explain how companies and the municipality collaborate on the sustainability of the business park Vijf Eiken.
