On December 11 and 12, the Provincial Councils of North Brabant and Limburg respectively appointed ir. Miriam Nienhuis-van Doremaele MCM as the new chairperson of the Southern Audit Chamber. The appointment follows a careful selection process led by the advisory committee of the audit chamber.

Ms. Nienhuis-van Doremaele will start her new position on February 8, 2026. She succeeds Mr. Marc Vermeulen, whose term ends on February 7. The swearing-in will take place on January 30, 2026.

Ms. Nienhuis-van Doremaele studied Land Use Planning and Forestry at Wageningen University and subsequently held various senior positions within provinces and municipalities. She is currently part-time director of the Association of Forest and Nature Owners.
