By 2050, all buildings will be free of natural gas: this is the goal that the national government, province, and municipalities are working towards. This means that by 2050 all buildings will use sustainable heat sources for hot water and heating. This transition is called the heat transition. Municipalities are in charge of implementing the heat transition. To support them, the province is opening the Heat Knowledge Point, a digital counter where municipalities in Brabant can ask all their questions about the heat transition.
The heat transition is a complex challenge. Not all municipalities have the knowledge and experience in-house to shape the heat transition, as became clear last year from our survey among municipalities and other stakeholders, says Deputy Bas Maes. As a province, we are happy to lend a helping hand. With this Knowledge Point, municipalities can come to us for support and answers.
Practical questions
The Heat Knowledge Point has a lot of expertise. Municipalities can ask practical questions about, for example, implementation plans, home insulation, and heat networks, but also about participation and organizing information meetings. They can also turn to the Knowledge Point for legal and financial advice. The experts at the Knowledge Point provide tailor-made advice, can (co-)write policy documents, and help clarify and delineate complex issues.
Free support
The Heat Knowledge Point is available to all municipalities in Brabant. The province coordinates the Knowledge Point and has selected consultancy firm CE Delft as the executing party, together with W/E advisors, Enpuls, and MSG.
Knowledge sharing Energy Workshop Brabant
The Knowledge Point shares answers and reports via the Energy Workshop Brabant, so that other municipalities can benefit from this knowledge. You can read more about the Heat Knowledge Point on the Energy Workshop Brabant website.
