The national government is providing 526 million euros to Brabant to accelerate housing construction. This funding is intended for infrastructure investments, area development, and short-term housing projects. Examples include the Kenniskwartier in Tilburg, housing in Northwest Boxtel, Waalwijk center, and Knoop XL in Eindhoven and Helmond. The Province of North Brabant welcomes these contributions, which build upon the Brabant Bouwt proposal.

Deputy Wilma Dirken (Housing) calls this an important next step in cooperation with the national government. “The national contribution makes it possible to actually realize projects that are now ready,” Dirken said. “We are pleased with the balanced distribution between large urban developments and projects in medium and smaller municipalities. This benefits the acceleration of housing construction throughout the province.”

Deputy Stijn Smeulders (Mobility and Urban Development) adds: This contribution from the national government will help keep Brabant accessible, especially in a time of rapid growth. From new neighborhoods and improved station areas to smarter bus lines: this is a good foundation to build upon.

At the same time, the province notes that some promising Brabant proposals were not honored. According to the province, these projects remain of great importance for realizing the joint housing and urbanization task and will be brought to attention again in future national rounds.

The Brabant Bouwt proposal is the joint bid of the province, municipalities, water boards, and urban regions to realize more than 157,000 new homes by 2030. Housing, mobility, and quality of life are developed in conjunction, with attention to sustainability, climate adaptation, and accessibility.
