The Brabant network of fast cycling paths is getting 2 new routes. These are the F50 between Veghel and Son and the F615 between Gemert and Eindhoven. The signatures were signed on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

The accessibility of the province has been under pressure for a long time. Especially during the morning and evening rush hours, the highways are congested. Therefore, it is important to offer a good alternative to the car. This is done, for example, by creating a network of fast cycling routes. These provide a direct and safe connection to school, work, or facilities. With these new fast cycling paths, routes inside and outside the Brainport region are connected for the first time.

“Cycling is fun, healthy, and in more and more places in Brabant also the fastest way to get from A to B,” says deputy Stijn Smeulders (mobility). “This will also apply if you want to travel during rush hour from Son to Veghel or from Nuenen to Beek and Donk. Especially with the electric bike, these distances are quite manageable. Even more so when a new safe, wide, and comfortable route is available.”

Recognizable red asphalt

The new part of the F50 consists of approximately 15 kilometers between the municipalities of Meierijstad and Son en Breugel. Existing bike paths are upgraded and provided with safe crossings and the recognizable red asphalt. An even larger part consists of new bike paths. For example, with a bridge over the Aa near Veghel, over the industrial area De Dubbelen, and with a tunnel under the intersection of Planetenlaan and Rooijseweg in Son.

For the F615, an addendum has been signed, which now also reveals the last 3.5 kilometers of the route. The entire route is 19 kilometers long. The bike route largely follows provincial road N615. With a tunnel at the Lieshoutseweg south of Beek and Donk as the main highlight. The last important link in this route is the crossing at the Beekse Bridge. The province and municipality are currently discussing which solution is most suitable for this.

Start of works in 2026

With the signing of the 2 administrative agreements, the province and municipalities take a big step towards the construction of the routes. The agreement includes, for example, arrangements about the route, quality, planning, and cost distribution. The first works are expected to start during 2026.
