On Thursday, September 18, the fourth Energy Brabant session will take place, focusing on the sustainable development of social real estate. During this online session, presenter Anne-Marie Fokkens will talk to various experts: where do you start if you want to make social real estate more sustainable? What challenges might you encounter? And how do you secure financing?
Social real estate includes buildings used for public or social purposes. Think of school buildings, theaters, community centers, museums, religious institutions, and sports facilities. Many buildings that fall under social real estate are outdated and consume a lot of energy. By making these buildings more sustainable, they not only become more energy-efficient but also more comfortable and future-proof.
Opportunities, Challenges, and Financing
In this session, you will gain insight into the possibilities and the biggest challenges of making social real estate more sustainable. We will also share inspiring practical examples. Maarten Diependaal (Province of North Brabant) outlines why the province focuses on the sustainability of social real estate and where we currently stand. Elmar de Kok, project leader for the sustainability of social real estate at DTVadvies, will address topics such as financing, ownership, regulations, and the Support Desk for social real estate. He will also talk more about available schemes like DUMAVA and ways to actively involve users.
Practical Examples from Brabant
Finally, we will look at concrete examples from practice. Jesper Cuperus from the municipality of Roosendaal shares his experiences with making theater de Kring more sustainable. He will discuss the challenges and the role of the municipality. Jan van Hout (Ovvia) will also join. He will take you through the process of making a large historic building, Kloosterhotel ZIN in Vught, more sustainable.
