The Province of North Holland has closed the period during which people could respond to the plans for Windpark Waterwolf in Haarlemmermeer South. In total, 48 responses (opinions) and 1 alternative proposal were submitted. Most responses came from residents. Companies such as Gasunie and ProRail, interest groups, and the municipality of Haarlemmermeer also responded.
The opinions mainly concern the integration of the wind farm into the environment, safety in relation to infrastructure and cables and pipelines, the application of the municipality of Haarlemmermeers rules, and the influence of Schiphol Airport.
Response and Follow-up
The Province of North Holland carefully reviews and answers all opinions. Everyone who submitted an opinion will receive personal notification about the further process. It is expected that these responses will be sent by the end of February 2026. Questions regarding the environmental impact report (MER) will be included in the follow-up research where possible. The draft project decision will include a document detailing how each response was handled and what this means for the environmental impact study.
Environmental Impact Research
The Wind Coalition Haarlemmermeer-South is the initiator of Windpark Waterwolf and aims to realize the wind farm with local ownership. An environmental impact report (MER) is being prepared for this plan. The Commission for Environmental Impact Assessment is positive about the research proposal and advises not only to look at environmental effects but also opportunities for nature, landscape, and sustainable energy generation. The study examines various options with five to eleven wind turbines, with heights between 125 and 217 meters.
