The Province of North Holland is conducting supplementary research on the condition of the trees along the N241 between Verlaat and Schagen.
Independent tree expert Groenadvies Amsterdam will carry out this research in the week of May 26. They will determine whether the trees have sufficient vitality and growth potential to achieve a lifespan of at least 60 years. Ten years ago, during the reconstruction of the Provincial Road N241 between Schagen and Verlaat, the trees were planted incorrectly, resulting in poor growth. The province will have the trees assessed once more to ensure that replacing the trees is the only option.
Visual Inspection and Sampling
The trees will be visually inspected, assessing the current condition of the trees and the ability of the individual tree to recover from a poor condition. Additionally, a sample will be taken from 50 trees to evaluate the growth space they have. This will include assessing the size and quality of the growth site.
Results and Measures
Based on the results of the research conducted by Groenadvies Amsterdam, advice will be given on the measures needed to ensure the trees achieve a lifespan of at least 60 years. The results of the research and the advice on the measures to be taken are expected to be announced in July.
