The renovation of the Cruquius Bridges is almost complete. All works will be finished by the end of March 2026.

Three temporary closures are required to complete the work. During these periods, the N201 will be fully closed to motorized traffic in both directions between Spieringweg (Haarlemmermeer) and Javalaan (Heemstede). 

Detours apply for motorized traffic, cyclists, pedestrians, bus passengers, and emergency services.

Works and detours per closure   

Friday, February 27 – Monday, March 2  During this weekend: 

  • The final road layout is applied on the bridge towards Hoofddorp
  • The new bicycle underpass is connected
  • The Bennebroekerdijk is permanently arranged

After this weekend, motorized traffic can drive over both bridge parts again, but the Cruquius and Bennebroekerdijk remain closed according to the existing situation until the end of March 2026. 

Detours 

  • Motorized traffic detours via Drie Merenweg (N205) and the N201
  • Cyclists and pedestrians follow the indicated detour routes
  • The Cruquius Bridge remains accessible for emergency services during this closure weekend
  • Buses can drive over the bridge this weekend, but the bus stops at the bridge are temporarily out of use. Passengers can board and alight at the Javalaan (Heemstede) and Spieringweg (Cruquius) stops

New bicycle underpass opens March 2 

The bicycle underpass opens on Monday morning, March 2. Cyclists can safely pass under the N201. The bicycle and pedestrian path on the bridge towards Heemstede will open.

Thursday, March 19 – Tuesday, March 24 

During this closure, the final road layout is applied and test works are conducted. After this closure, all traffic drives in the final situation. 

Detours

  • Cyclists use the bicycle underpass and pontoon bridge
  • Pedestrians use the pontoon bridge and bicycle underpass 
  • Emergency services drive via other routes
  • Buses run from the hospital in Hoofddorp via the Zuidtangent to Houtplein in Haarlem. Heemstede is temporarily skipped. From Haarlem, a shuttle bus runs to Heemstede.  Passengers between Hoofddorp and Heemstede travel via Haarlem (regular bus + shuttle bus). Thursday, March 26 - Tuesday, March 31  

During this closure, test works are performed and the bridge is connected to the central bridge control in Heerhugowaard.

Detours 

The same detours apply during this closure as during the closure from Thursday, March 19 to Tuesday, March 24. From Tuesday morning, March 31, all works are completed. 

Shipping traffic
