The Province of North Holland is repairing the asphalt of the provincial road N242 near the Leeghwater Bridge in Alkmaar and Langebalk Bridge in Heerhugowaard. The work will take place on Tuesday, June 17, between 8:00 PM and the following morning at 5:00 AM. The Westerweg (N242) near Langebalk Bridge will be closed in both directions, while traffic at the Leeghwater Bridge will use one lane on the N242. The bike path will remain open.
Work on N242-Langebalk Bridge: Detour
To repair the asphalt, the N242 between Pannekeetweg and Langebalk Bridge in Heerhugowaard will be closed to motor vehicle traffic in both directions. Traffic will follow a detour via Pannekeetweg, Hasselaarsweg, Middenweg, and Verlaat towards A.C. de Graafweg (N241) and vice versa.
Work on N242-Leeghwater Bridge: Fewer Lanes
To safely carry out the work, two lanes of the N242 between the Leeghwater Bridge and exit Nieuw Schermerweg (N243) will be closed. Traffic towards Heerhugowaard will use one lane, and there will be a speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour. Traffic towards the A9/Haarlem will not be hindered.
Work
Timely maintenance of the road and asphalt repairs are necessary for traffic safety. The province aims to minimize traffic disruption as much as possible and therefore works on the N242 in the evening and night.
