Commissioner of the King, Arthur van Dijk, swore in Serge Ferraro as mayor of Huizen on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. The appointment is for 6 years.

Ferraro is 52 years old and a member of the VVD. Until 2022, Ferraro was alderman and deputy mayor in Beverwijk. He was responsible there for economic affairs, spatial planning, urban renewal, housing, and the Environmental Planning Act.

Before his appointment, he was a council member in the municipality of Beverwijk and, since 2023, manager of Business Climate and Sustainability at Development Company North Holland North. From 2014 to 2018, he was the VVD faction leader in the same municipality.

Ferraro studied Dutch law at the University of Amsterdam.
