The Provincial Executive has approved the budget for 2026.
Deputy Esther Rommel: “We have brought the budget back into balance and ensure that our finances remain healthy in the long term. We do this by making some choices, as we have previously written in the Framework Letter 2026. This college is taking steps forward where we can as a province. As planned, we will continue with the Nature Network Netherlands. We also signed an important covenant with LTO, the Holland Agricultural Youth Contact, and Biologically North Holland just before the summer regarding nitrogen reduction. This is important for our nature and also helps with permits for agriculture, housing, better roads, and the greening of industry. This also offers opportunities for farmers and other entrepreneurs. To reduce the high costs of wildlife damage, we are investing in active management.”
“Of course, we are closely examining the expenditures of recent years. We have seen that we reserved too much money in some areas. By cleaning up our reserves, funds become available without compromising our goals. Thanks to the choices we are making now, the province can continue to invest in a strong and sustainable North Holland, where growth and livability go hand in hand. This way, we are truly moving forward in a connecting manner!”
The Provincial Council will discuss the Budget 2026 in the meeting on Monday, November 3.
