During SAIL 2025, you will find SAIL Horizons at the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam North. Here, the Province of North Holland welcomes you to Pavilion WATERPROOF.
In WATERPROOF, you will discover the power of water and see how North Holland responds to climate change. Step inside, participate, play, and be surprised – you will stay dry!
What can you do at WATERPROOF?
- Enjoy the musical Water Gate
- Surf over waves in the VR experience
- Experiment in the Water Lab
- Take a look at the photo exhibition
WATERPROOF shows how water connects, shapes, and challenges us. You will discover how we enjoy water together, but also how we deal with drought and flooding. The province works closely with other governments on water quality, water safety, and climate adaptation.
SAIL 2025
From Wednesday, August 20 to Sunday, August 24, North Holland will transform into the backdrop of the largest free event in the Netherlands: SAIL 2025! For 5 days, the area around the North Sea Canal and Amsterdam will be bustling with maritime shows, tall ships, naval vessels, the crew parade, light and fireworks shows, and concerts.
On Wednesday, August 20 and Sunday, August 24, all boats will sail through the North Sea Canal during the SAIL parade. SAIL 2025 is particularly festive this time: it is the tenth edition, SAIL is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and Amsterdam is celebrating its 750th anniversary. The Province of North Holland sponsors the event and is closely involved in all traffic measures and the organization of activities. More information about the SAIL Parade.
