On Monday, October 27, there will be an open evening about the replacement and improvement of the Bernhard Bridge and the adjacent intersection Bernhardlaan-De Zarken-Nieuwpoortslaan in Monnickendam.
The open evening will take place from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Grote Kerk (De Zarken 2, 1141 BL Monnickendam). No prior registration is required. During this open evening, residents and other stakeholders will receive more information about the project and can share their ideas for the new bridge and the intersection with the project team.
In need of replacement and improvement
The Bernhard Bridge, also known as the lift bridge Monnickendam, is the main gateway for Monnickendam and the surrounding areas. The bridge is over 90 years old and in need of replacement. There is also a need for improvement in traffic safety on the bridge and the adjacent intersection Bernhardlaan-De Zarken-Nieuwpoortslaan. Therefore, the province of North Holland is working with the municipality of Waterland and the Amsterdam Transport Region to develop variants for a new connection between the N247 and Monnickendam and the surrounding areas. Since residents and users know the area well, the province asks them to think along about the new connection.
