For the Development Maritime Cluster Den Helder program, the involved parties will conduct an environmental impact study.
The first step is the Scoping and Level of Detail Note (NRD). From February 16, people can respond to this note.
The Scoping and Level of Detail Note (NRD)
According to the Environmental Planning Act, the NRD is the first step before an Environmental Impact Report (MER) can be made. The NRD ensures that the environmental impact study is carried out in a focused and efficient manner and aligns with the choices made later.
The NRD states which environmental effects are investigated and how this is done. It concerns effects of the program on, for example, traffic, air quality, nautical safety, water, archaeology, and nature. Eight projects fall within the environmental study. These are the Ravelijn Bridge, the Moorman Bridge, the Nieuwe Diep/Nieuwe Werk, the Van Kinsbergen Bridge, the Defensiekade Nieuwe Diep, the ferry terminal access area, the development of Buitenveld, and the Willemsoord shipping route.
Submitting views can be done at the municipality of Den Helder
The NRD is available for inspection for 6 weeks until March 30. During this period, everyone can view the note and, if desired, submit views to the municipality of Den Helder. This can be done via the website of the Maritime Cluster Den Helder Opens an external link.
Port of Den Helder: safety and energy
The port of Den Helder is of strategic importance for national security and for energy supply on and from the sea. Therefore, the Province of North Holland, Defense, and the municipality of Den Helder have been working together since 2020 on accessibility, livability, and the economy of the port and the region.
More information about the program can be found on the Development Maritime Cluster Den Helder page.
