The Province of North Holland is organizing an open meeting on September 17, 2025, about the replacement of the Krommenie Bridge.
During the meeting, visitors can get information about the new bridge and ideas for a traffic diversion.
The Krommenie Bridge connects Wormerveer with Krommenie/Assendelft. The bridge consists of a northern and southern bridge, both of which are nearing the end of their lifespan. The Province of North Holland therefore wants to replace the Krommenie Bridge.
The southern bridge will be replaced by a drawbridge that is twice as wide as the current bridge. This allows traffic from both directions to use this new bridge while the northern bridge is being replaced. Both bridges will be shifted a few meters to align with the adjacent railway bridge, making it easier for vessels to pass under the new bridges. The work to replace the southern bridge is expected to start in early 2027 and be completed by the end of 2028. After that, the northern bridge will be replaced. Preparatory work, such as relocating cables and pipelines, will already begin in 2026.
