On Monday, June 24 from 10:00 PM to Tuesday, June 25 at 5:00 AM, the Leeghwater Bridge (N242) in Alkmaar towards Heerhugowaard will be closed to traffic.
The province is conducting inspections in preparation for work that will take place after the summer. Traffic will be diverted via the western ring road. The bike path remains open.
Detour
Traffic will be diverted via Kooimeerplein, Heilooërtolweg (N9), Huiswaarderweg (N245), and Nollenweg (N508). Traffic in the opposite direction (from Heerhugowaard to Alkmaar) will not be affected by the work.
Work to Reduce Noise Disturbance
Residents have been experiencing noise disturbance from traffic on the Leeghwater Bridge (N242). The bridge deck towards Heerhugowaard vibrates when (heavy) traffic passes over it. After the summer, the province will take measures in hopes of reducing this. The date on which this work will be carried out is not yet known.
