The Province of North Holland is postponing the trial of speed-reducing measures on the Priggeweg (N241) near Haringhuizen. The trial consisted of artificial bends to make traffic safer and calmer.

These measures were removed because agricultural vehicles drove around them through the verge, causing damage to the verge.

To prevent this damage to the verge, the province plans to place large blocks in the verge. These blocks ensure that agricultural traffic also drives on the road and along the artificial bends. However, these blocks have a delivery time, which is why the trial is postponed.

Continuation of the trial

The blocks will be delivered and installed at the beginning of January. The speed-reducing measures will then be reinstated so that the trial can continue.

During the trial, it will be measured whether these measures lead to safer and calmer driving behavior. Cameras and traffic loops will record how road users react to the new situation.

Work in the week of January 5

In the week from Monday, January 5 to Friday, January 9, the province will place the blocks and speed-reducing measures. During this work, the Priggeweg will be closed to motorized traffic between the intersection with the Moerbeek and the intersection with the Haringhuizerweg.

  • Motorized traffic will follow the detour via the main road.
  • Agricultural traffic will follow the detour via the bicycle street on the west side of the N241.
  • Cyclists and pedestrians can walk through the work zone under the supervision of a traffic controller.
