The province of North Holland explored three alternatives for the A8-A9 connection over the past year.
This includes the Golf Course Alternative established in 2022 with a landscape plan, a route via the existing N203, and a route along the Kreekrijk neighborhood. The latest traffic models have been used for the research, which also included housing plans up to 2040. This allowed for a picture to be drawn of the effect of the new connecting roads on traffic flow, livability, and safety in the region in 2040.
In three meetings, the province will present the research results. The subsequent steps of the province will also be explained. The research results will be available for viewing from May 26 at 10:00 PM on the website.

About the research
In 2021, the costs for constructing a connection A8-A9 with the Golf Course Alternative and carefully integrating it into the UNESCO World Heritage Site Stelling van Amsterdam were estimated at over € 900 million. Since these costs cannot only be borne by the province and municipalities and a contribution from the national government is uncertain, the province examined two variants that had previously been discarded and that do not affect the UNESCO World Heritage Site Stelling van Amsterdam. The two variants and the Golf Course Alternative have been updated, improved where possible, and compared with each other.
