The Province of North Holland will align the regulations for temporary berths (3x24 hour berths) on provincial waterways.
This is being done because the regulations for temporary berths varied across the province. For example, waterway users could stay indefinitely in certain places. This leads to nuisance, such as the permanent residency of boats at temporary berths.
In the coming period, the signs along the Amstel, Ringvaart of the Haarlemmermeer Polder, Noordhollandsch Canal, Niedorpervaart, Langedijkervaart, and the Schagerkoggekanaal will be adjusted. The temporary mooring regulations will thus be the same across all provincial waterways. This contributes to safety on the water and a smooth passage.
3 times 24 hours mooring
On all provincial waterways and in the Ringvaart of the Haarlemmermeer Polder, there is a mooring prohibition unless you have a mooring exemption. At the 3x24 hour berths, a vessel may moor without an exemption. This is allowed in those places for a maximum of 3 times 24 hours. The vessel must then stay away from that same spot for at least a week. And mooring is only allowed during the boating season between April 1 and November 1.
With the new regulations (traffic decision July 18, 2025 Opens an external link) and signage, the province can more easily and quickly enforce unwanted use of the mooring places. The province enforces the 3x24 hour rules. The municipalities continue to enforce illegal residency and nuisance.
