Provincial States established the ambitions and directions for renewing the Environmental Vision 2050 on September 29.
This means that North Holland can continue with the participation process Your North Holland, your space.
On November 3, the next part starts. Residents can indicate via an online choice guide where the province should prioritize. For example, if someone wants many houses to be built, the choice guide immediately indicates what consequences that has for water, agriculture, and industry. The province also visits community centers and markets to speak with residents and organizes several webinars.
Furthermore, the province conducts a representative study in which the choices from the choice guide are presented to a representative group of North Holland residents. The province also organizes a meeting for all municipalities, water boards, and social organizations to hear what choices they would make.
The outcomes of the entire participation process are then incorporated by the province into the draft Environmental Vision, which will be submitted to the Provincial States in May 2026.

27% Shortage
North Holland faces major challenges. Space is needed for housing, water, energy, nature, business parks, and agriculture. But the demand for space is greater than the supply. The province is at least 27% short of space.
