Commissioner of the King Arthur van Dijk has sworn in Jaap Bond, who was previously appointed, as the acting mayor of Bergen on September 10, 2025. 

He succeeds acting mayor Marjan van Kampen, who has combined her role in Bergen with her mayorship in Schagen since November 12, 2024. Bond will serve until a permanent mayor is appointed. The procedure for a crown-appointed mayor will start after the municipal elections in 2026. 

Jaap Bond (1957) is an experienced administrator. From 2020 to 2024, he was the chairman of the Royal General Association for Bulb Culture and National figurehead for Horticulture and Propagation Materials. He was previously a provincial deputy for North Holland from 2007 to 2019 and was active as a member of the provincial parliament and faction leader of the CDA from 1999 to 2007. Before becoming a provincial deputy, he worked for the Dutch Police since 1977.
