The current mayor, Nanning Mol, will become the mayor of Dordrecht on June 5. De Zwart-Bloch will serve as acting mayor until a crown-appointed mayor is appointed to fill the vacancy. 

Joan de Zwart-Bloch (1959) is an experienced administrator. From 2008 to 2023, she was the mayor of Blaricum. From 2009 to 2013, she was a member of the VNGs labor affairs executive and a member of the national board of D66. From 2005 to 2008, she was the faction leader of D66 in Zutphen.
