From the weekend of November 21 to 24 and on weekday evenings and nights between December 5 and 19, 2025, the Ouderkerk Bridge near Ouderkerk aan de Amstel will be closed to motorized traffic.

The Province of North Holland will carry out work on the bridge on the provincial road (N522) between Amsterdam Zuidoost and Amstelveen.

The Province of North Holland is performing repair work on the Ouderkerk Bridge between September 1, 2025, and the end of March 2026. To allow traffic to continue during the work, the contractor temporarily installed a temporary bridge on top of the northern part of the Ouderkerk Bridge in September. This temporary bridge will be removed during the weekend of November 21 to 24.

Closures for motorized traffic

To remove the temporary bridge, a weekend closure is necessary. As a result, motorized traffic will not be able to cross the bridge from Friday, November 21 (8:00 PM) until Monday, November 24 (6:00 AM). The contractor will also perform welding work. This work will take place on weekday evenings and nights from December 5 to 19 between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. During the welding work, the bridge will also be closed to motorized traffic. Motorized traffic is advised to use the A2/A9 routes.

No closure for (moped) cyclists, pedestrians, buses, and emergency services

During the weekend, evening, and night closures for motorized traffic, (moped) cyclists, pedestrians, mobility vehicles such as Canta’s and mobility scooters, emergency and aid services, and scheduled bus services can continue to use the Ouderkerk Bridge. They will be guided past the work by traffic controllers.

Moped cars

Moped cars are not allowed to use bike paths. This means that drivers of moped cars must detour or choose an alternative mode of transport during the weekend closures. Travelers with moped cars are advised to prepare their trip well and allow extra travel time.

Execution of postponed work

Work and closures on the Ouderkerk Bridge were also planned for the weekend of October 3-6. Due to weather conditions, these could not be carried out. Part of this work has since been completed during the previous weekend closure. The remaining part can be done during the weekend closure from November 21 to 24, so no new closure needs to be scheduled.
