The Province of North Holland is carrying out repair work on the Ouderkerk Bridge in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel.

On Saturday, February 14, during the weekend from March 14 to 16, and on the nights between March 17 and 19, the bridge on the provincial road (N522) between Amsterdam Southeast and Amstelveen will be closed to motorized traffic. Through traffic will be diverted via the A2 and A9.

Saturday closure on February 14

At the beginning of January, a temporary bridge was placed on the southern part of the Ouderkerk Bridge. On February 14, the contractor will remove the temporary bridge. As a result, motorized traffic cannot cross the bridge on Saturday, February 14 (between 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM). Through traffic will be diverted via the A2 and A9.

Ten weekday evening and night welding works and lane closure

After removing the temporary bridge, welding works will take place. These works will occur on weekday evenings and nights from February 25 to March 13 between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. During the welding works, traffic will be directed via the other half of the bridge. A reduced speed applies and traffic should expect possible delays.

Weekend closure from March 14 to 16

In March, the contractor will also carry out welding works on both the northern and southern parts of the bridge. As a result, motorized traffic cannot cross the bridge from Saturday, March 14 at 6:00 AM until Monday, March 16 at 6:00 AM. Through traffic will be diverted via the A2 and A9.

Night closures between March 17 and 19

On the nights of March 17 to 18 and March 18 to 19, the contractor will test the operation of both bridge parts of the Ouderkerk Bridge simultaneously between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. The bridge deck will open and close multiple times. Due to testing, no motorized traffic or bus traffic will be allowed on the bridge. (Moped) cyclists and pedestrians should expect possible delays when the bridge is open during testing. If tests overrun, the night of March 19 to 20 is also scheduled for testing.

No closure for (moped) cyclists, pedestrians, buses, and emergency services

During the (weekend) closures for motorized traffic, (moped) cyclists, pedestrians, invalid vehicles such as Canta’s and mobility scooters, and emergency services can still use the Ouderkerk Bridge. They will be guided past the works by traffic controllers. Bus services will also be routed around the works during closures. Only during the night closures between March 17 and 19 is this not possible and they will be diverted.
