There are more than 150 species of plants in the landscape garden, including Stoneflower, Field Sage, and Large Burnet. Clay, river sand, and heathland soil come from the original areas. The design was developed with the help of the provincial program Nature for Each Other, and 2,000 plants were planted. This way, twelve landscape types have been created; from a piece of the Salland Ridge to the estates and IJssel floodplains.
Very inspiring to see different Overijssel landscapes in miniature. You see how diverse and beautiful Overijssel is.
Native species
By using plant species that have been present in the wild for centuries, the species richness or biodiversity around the provincial house is improved. This provides a picture of the diverse Overijssel nature. While wandering through the garden, you can discover special plants and hopefully also special species of butterflies, hoverflies, or bees. Such as the bee wolf, hummingbird moth, and plume-footed bee.
Inspiration for your own garden
The landscape garden is a project of the Province of Overijssel, with the cooperation of gardeners from SIGHT Landscaping and students from Zone.college. Depending on available space, sunlight, and soil type, everyone can also find inspiration for planting in their own small or larger garden in this landscape garden.
