This autumn, we are reopening a subsidy scheme to support farmers in investing in sustainable and future-proof business operations. The investments made with this subsidy must contribute to the provinces goals in environmental improvement, biodiversity, and climate objectives.

The subsidy ‘Productive investments green-blue and animal welfare’ is intended for farmers and farmer cooperatives who want to invest in the sustainability of their business. The scheme is open from December 3, 2025, until February 26, 2026. The funding for the scheme comes from the National Transition Fund and is part of Measure Package 3 – Agriculture.

Investing in future-oriented agriculture

The subsidy can be used for measures that contribute to circular, nature-inclusive, and economically viable agriculture. Examples include investments in precision farming, grazing, and animal welfare. Also, techniques that improve water management and make the use of natural resources such as soil and water more efficient.

The investments must demonstrably contribute to the environmental and climate goals of the province. The list of eligible investments is established at the national level and focuses on proven effective measures.

Budget and conditions

A total of €8 million is available for this application round:

  • €4.5 million for farmers;
  • €3.5 million for young farmers (up to 40 years old).

The subsidy amounts to a maximum of 40% of eligible costs for regular farmers and 55% for young farmers up to 40 years old. This round also gives farmers who did not receive a subsidy in the spring a second chance to realize their sustainable plans.
