This autumn, the province will make €933,200 available for improving agricultural nature and landscape management (ANLb). Utrecht is one of the main meadow bird provinces, and with this scheme, farmers can fund measures for meadow bird protection.
There is great interest among farmers in nature and landscape management. This was also evident in 2024 when €1.3 million was awarded through this scheme. By continuing this scheme in 2025, the province will continue to support farmers who are committed to nature, such as meadow birds. Thanks to the scheme, they can make investments such as the creation of wetland areas with associated pumps, measures against predators (such as fox fencing), and equipment for monitoring meadow bird populations.
Targeted Support for Farmers and Collectives
The subsidy scheme Non-productive Investments in Agriculture is part of the European Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The subsidy is open from September 16 to October 30, 2025, and is intended for farmers, agricultural collectives, agricultural organizations, and landscape management organizations.
Management and Investments Covered
The scheme is an addition to agricultural nature and landscape management (ANLb), which only finances management. However, for effective management of nature and landscape, concrete measures that cost money are sometimes also needed. Through this subsidy, it is possible to make these investments. Thus, farmers and collectives can not only carry out their nature and landscape management but also improve and expand it.
