Mayor Petra van Hartskamp of the municipality of Montfoort has informed Commissioner of the King Hans Oosters that she is stepping down as mayor. She will say goodbye on December 11. She will then be 63 years old and has been mayor of Montfoort for 10 years.
Petra van Hartskamp became mayor of Montfoort on January 6, 2016. Before that, she was an alderman in the municipality of Huizen and a member of the Provincial States of North Holland. The commissioner calls the departure of Mayor Van Hartskamp a loss for Montfoort. “Petra has been a stable, strong, and involved mayor for Montfoort in recent years and will be greatly missed,” said Hans Oosters.
The Commissioner of the King will meet with the faction leaders of the municipal council of Montfoort about the next steps.
