On Monday evening, September 22, Ester Weststeijn was sworn in as mayor of IJsselstein during a special council meeting. Commissioner of the King Hans Oosters administered her oath of office.
The commissioner described Weststeijn as a mayor known for being a good listener who advocates for the local community and is open to others, especially those who are struggling. A committed, serious, enthusiastic but above all honest mayor.
Ester Weststeijn was chosen by the municipal council from 34 candidates. Previously, she had been mayor in the Gelderland municipality of Rozendaal since 2019. Before that, she worked for the municipality of Pijnacker-Nootdorp, first as a senior communication advisor and then as a corporate controller. She is married and has two children.
