The municipal council of Soest has decided on Thursday evening, June 12, to recommend Mayor Rob Metz for reappointment for a new term. Rob Metz has been the mayor of Soest since November 28, 2013. His second term ends in November 2025.
At that time, Mayor Metz will be 67 years old. A mayor may continue working until their 70th birthday. For that reason, Metz will not complete his third six-year term. He has indicated that he expects to remain mayor for about two more years. He wants to oversee the period around the municipal elections in March 2026 from his role as mayor. Once the new municipal council is settled, the search for a new mayor can begin. This process usually takes about nine months.
The municipal council will soon send the recommendation to Commissioner of the King Hans Oosters. The commissioner will then forward the recommendation with his advice to the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, who prepares the Royal Decree for the reappointment.
The installation of Rob Metz for his third term as mayor of Soest will take place on November 27, 2025. Commissioner of the King Hans Oosters will then swear in Mr. Metz.
