Commissioner of the King Hans Oosters has appointed Henri Lenferink as the acting mayor of Amersfoort. He consulted with the faction leaders from the municipal council regarding Mr. Lenferinks appointment. Mayor Lenferink will fulfill the role until Lucas Bolsius has sufficiently recovered and can resume his duties as mayor.
Earlier this week, Mayor Bolsius of Amersfoort announced that he would temporarily step down from his duties. During the summer recess, he contracted a severe pneumonia, and he has not yet fully recovered.
Henri Lenferink served as mayor of Leiden from 2003 to 2023. After that, he was acting commissioner of the King in the province of Gelderland for one and a half years.
