From Idea to Reality
Kern met Pit has been the election for neighborhood initiatives for over 45 years. This can be a neighborhood walk, organizing a neighborhood festival, or creating a community garden. All ideas are welcome, as long as the idea brings the neighborhood together. Program manager Margje Spaendonck explains: “By working together on a project, neighborhood residents get to know each other better and new contacts are formed. This way, involvement in villages and cities grows.”
Guidance and Workshops
Each participant receives a year of free guidance from an experienced advisor. One of these advisors is Ad de Jong, winner of the Kern met Pit trophy 2022. He won together with Janet de Zeeuw with their project where neighborhood residents made wooden benches to place products for the food bank. Now Ad helps other initiators. “I assist in starting the idea, provide tailored tips, and regularly join meetings. The best part is that every initiative can participate, big or small,” he enthusiastically shares.
Additionally, as a participant, you can attend workshops on topics such as fundraising, recruiting volunteers, or how to use social media. Ideal for meeting other initiators and expanding your knowledge and network.
Building Vital Villages Together
As a province, we find it important that small villages remain pleasant places to live and that people have more contact with each other. The election helps with this. Therefore, the province collaborates with Kern met Pit. Additionally, the province also provides subsidies. With these subsidies, neighborhood residents can implement ideas that ensure a pleasant living environment, sustainability, and good contact in the neighborhood.
