The first new mobile sales point officially started at the carpool location in Baarn. With this, the Province of Utrecht is implementing the plan to make carpool locations more attractive, cleaner, and safer. Several more locations will follow in the coming period.

Carpooling helps reduce the number of cars on the road. This leads to better traffic flow and less emissions. At the same time, some motorists experience barriers to leaving their cars at a carpool location. A deserted appearance or litter can give the impression of little social control.

More supervision and liveliness

To improve this, the province has started issuing pitches for mobile sales points, such as food trucks and sales carts with regional products, lunch dishes, and drinks. The presence of entrepreneurs not only provides facilities for travelers but also extra supervision and cleanliness of the location. Pitch holders remove waste and keep an eye on the area.

New locations assigned

The province previously started a public procedure in which entrepreneurs could apply, after which a sales point was opened at the carpool location along the N210 near IJsselstein. After a new procedure, the carpool locations in Baarn, Eemnes, and Vinkeveen have now been assigned. The spots at Breukelen and Maarssenbroek are still available for entrepreneurs. More information can be found on this page.

New food truck started

The new entrepreneur has now started at the carpool location in Baarn, along the N221 near the A1. In their food truck, they sell a seasonal assortment, including sandwiches and freshly prepared drinks. The food truck is open on weekdays from 7:00 to 15:00 at the location.

With the new approach, the province not only wants to stimulate carpooling but also ensure that carpool locations become cleaner, safer, and more attractive for daily use.
