The municipal council of De Ronde Venen has decided to nominate Rosan Kocken as their new mayor. This took place on Thursday, October 2, during a closed council meeting. Subsequently, the recommendation was announced in a public council meeting.
Rosan Kocken (46) has been a deputy in the province of North Holland since 2022. From 2015 to 2022, she was a member of the Provincial States of North Holland, serving as faction leader since 2019. From 2013 to 2022, she worked as a criminal lawyer. Kocken grew up in Heerhugowaard and studied Dutch Law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She is married and has two children.
De Ronde Venen searched for a new mayor after Maarten Divendal announced during the New Years reception that he would retire in November. On April 1, 2025, the municipal council established the profile for the new mayor. They indicated they were looking for an involved and approachable mayor who could smoothly handle the uniqueness of the villages. They also sought a mayor who would maintain public order and safety, tackle enforcement decisively, and strategically position the municipality in the region.
The recommendation now goes to the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK). Based on the recommendation, the minister will prepare a Royal Decree. The inauguration of the new mayor of De Ronde Venen is expected to take place at the end of November 2025.
