From Monday, September 1 to Monday, September 15, the Province of Utrecht will carry out work on the Provincial Road (N201) in Vreeland. The road will be closed during this period between the intersection with the Rijksstraatweg (N402) and the Gabriëlweg (N523).

The work will be carried out by Dura Vermeer on behalf of the Province of Utrecht. This work is necessary to keep the road in good condition and to improve traffic safety and flow.

Planning

From August 25 to 31, the preparatory work will begin. This will take place during the day and is expected to cause little to no traffic disruption.

From September 1 to 15, the main work will be carried out. This includes relocating and improving the bike crossing at the height of the Singel. The intersections of the N201 with the Singel and with the Raadhuislaan will also receive a plateau (elevation in the road). Additionally, a steel sheet pile will be placed in the waterway to construct the new bike path. The road will be closed during this period.

From Monday, September 8 to Thursday, September 11, there will be four night closures from the intersections with the Singel to the Raadhuislaan. These closures will last every night from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, as the asphalt is being replaced.

Accessibility and inconvenience

During the work, inconvenience may arise. The province will do everything possible to minimize this and asks road users to consider the situation and follow the detour routes.

For motor vehicle traffic, the Provincial Road (N201) between the Rijksstraatweg (N402) and the Gabriëlweg (N523) is completely closed to through traffic. Traffic to Vreeland West can drive via the intersection with the Singel (N402). Destination traffic to Vreeland East can drive via the Raadhuislaan (N523) or via the Kleizuwe, which will temporarily be opened as a one-way street.

During the night closures, the Spoorlaan will be opened for destination traffic in both directions towards Vreeland West, and the Kleizuwe in both directions towards Vreeland East. On both routes, traffic controllers will ensure safe flow.

Cyclists can continue to use the bike path along the N201 during the closures, with Vreeland remaining accessible via the tunnel under the road.

Future N201

The N201 is an important connection between Schiphol and the Gooi and Vecht region and has been a major bottleneck in the Province of Utrecht for years. With the project Future N201, the province is working step by step towards better traffic flow, safety, and livability in the region.
