The Woerden section of the through-cycle route between Woerden and Utrecht is complete. Today was the official opening. From Woerden station to Harmelen, cyclists can now cycle quickly and comfortably.
Part of the Woerden section of the through-cycle route is the new bicycle bridge over Steinhagenseweg. Via this bridge, cyclists coming from Woerden station can safely continue their route to Harmelen because they no longer have to cross Steinhagenseweg. The bicycle bridge was constructed at the end of 2025 and has been in use since early 2026.

Through-cycle route Woerden – Utrecht
The entire through-cycle route (F12) runs from Woerden station to Utrecht Central Station. The Woerden section is now complete. The section in Harmelen is under construction. The municipality of Utrecht has already completed its section. The entire route is expected to be ready in the fall of 2026.
Why a through-cycle route?
The province and municipality want to make cycling to work and school more attractive with the through-cycle route. Cyclists get priority more often and can ride through comfortably on a smooth cycle path without hindrance. This way, we hope more people will choose the bicycle.
