Traffic Information

The work on the Gentsevaart is in full swing. On Monday, August 11, we will start breaking up the road between the roundabout at the Belgian border and the Sakko and Total gas stations. We will replace the sewer and renew the lanes, bike paths, and sidewalks. Expect significant delays and extra travel time.

Bypass

To allow traffic to pass during the work, a temporary lane (bypass) has been created on the even side of the Gentsevaart. Traffic lights ensure that traffic can pass alternately. From August 11, all car traffic and local freight traffic with can use this bypass. Through traffic for freight must not use the bypass and must follow the indicated detour routes. Road users should expect serious delays.

What exactly will happen in Kapellebrug?

The provincial road between Hulst and Belgium, also known as Traverse Kapellebrug, is in urgent need of replacement. A new road will be constructed at the existing location. We will take the opportunity to redesign the Gentsevaart while renewing the road. We will lay bike and footpaths on both sides of the road. There will be safer crossing points and speed-reducing measures, such as narrower lanes, bends in the road, and shifts in the road alignment. At the height of Molenstraat, a roundabout will be built. The municipality of Hulst will simultaneously lay a new sewer.  The measures will ensure greater traffic safety, better flow, and accessibility of the surrounding business parks. This will benefit the livability of the village.
