Deputy Jo-Annes de Bat has been nominated by his political party CDA as State Secretary for Climate and Green Growth in Cabinet Jetten. Therefore, he will resign his position as deputy at the Province of Zeeland on 23 February 2026. That is the intended date on which the new cabinet will be sworn in by the King.
Since 2015, De Bat has been deputy at the Province of Zeeland. During these eleven years, he managed a broad and heavy portfolio: Energy transition , Economy, Finance, Sports, (part of) Culture, Fisheries and Digitization. Also, the shareholding of among others NV Economische Impuls Zeeland and North Sea Port fell under his responsibility. In addition, he held numerous administrative side functions, including within IPO advisory committees, the Economic Board, Biobased Delta and Smart Delta Resources.
CDA Zeeland nominates Johan Aalberts as successor. He has been alderman at the municipality of Middelburg, among others. Provincial States will decide on his appointment later. At the bottom of this page you can read the press release from CDA Zeeland.
