Johan Aalberts (48) was sworn in as deputy on Friday, 27 February. He succeeds Jo-Annes de Bat, who was sworn in as State Secretary for Climate and Green Growth on Monday, 23 February.

Johan lives with his wife and family in Arnemuiden and previously worked as a team leader in project development at a construction company. From 2010 to 2022, he served as alderman for the municipality of Middelburg.

The CDA faction announced on 9 February that Johan Aalberts would be nominated as successor. “His involvement, administrative experience and strong sense of service give us full confidence that the provincial dossiers will be in good hands with him.”

Johan: “Zeeland is my home. A province of go-getters, entrepreneurs and involved residents. Here lie major challenges, but also opportunities to really make a difference. I am eager to dedicate myself with full energy. I look forward to working together with residents, entrepreneurs and partners to build a strong, enterprising and future-oriented Zeeland.”

Aalberts takes over the entire portfolio from De Bat. He will focus on the dossiers economy, fisheries, , sports, culture, finance and digitization. In addition, he is responsible for the shareholding in NV Economische Impuls Zeeland and North Sea Port.
