The Province of Zeeland opens the subsidy scheme ‘Measure Area-oriented Termination of Livestock Locations Zeeland’ on October 15, 2025. With this scheme, the province supports farmers who voluntarily wish to terminate their business completely or partially. This helps reduce nitrogen emissions in and around Natura 2000 areas.
Voluntary and Compensation
The scheme targets businesses within approximately 2,500 meters of a Natura 2000 area . Entrepreneurs who participate will receive appropriate compensation based on an independent appraisal. It is possible to stop completely or partially. It is also possible to retain a maximum of 15% of nitrogen emissions for a new function on the site.
Registering and Applying
- Registration of Interest: October 15 to December 31, 2025
- Subsidy Applications: April 1 to September 30, 2026
Interested parties can register via the provinces website. After registration, a conversation with a supervisor will follow, and an appraisal will take place, after which an official application can be submitted. For this scheme, there is a subsidy ceiling of a total of € 6,882,389.
